Standby — Terms & Privacy

This page covers what is specific to Standby, the back-in-stock, pre-order, and wishlist app. It sits on top of the terms and privacy notice common to every Keelhelm app; read them together.

What Standby reads and does

Standby requests read access to your products, inventory, orders, and customers, and permission to manage selling plans, so shoppers can join back-in-stock waitlists, place pre-orders with deposits, and save wishlists, and so we can notify them of stock and price changes.

Notifications and connected services

Email notifications are sent through our notification service. If you enable SMS, messages are sent using your own SMS-provider (Twilio) credentials — we pass each message through your account and don't operate a paid SMS service on your behalf.

Pre-order deposits

Pre-orders use Shopify's selling-plan and deposit features; deposit and balance amounts are tied to the resulting Shopify order records. Standby does not enter the payment path.

Wishlists and share links

Shoppers can share a wishlist by link. Anyone who holds that link can see the products on the shared wishlist. This is how shared wishlists work; share the links accordingly.

Plans

Standby offers Free, Starter, Growth, and Unlimited plans, billed through Shopify (monthly, or annually at a discount). Notification volume is the dimension the plans meter; current prices and limits are on the pricing page.

Data retention and deletion

Waitlist, wishlist, and pre-order records are kept while Standby is installed and are deleted or anonymized on uninstall and on Shopify's customers/redact and shop/redact requests, as described in the common privacy notice.

Beyond this page, the common app terms and app privacy notice apply, and so do the company-wide Terms, Acceptable Use, Privacy, and Copyright / DMCA policies, incorporated by reference.
